How I Capture Natural, Candid Moments at Your Wedding

If you've ever looked at a wedding gallery and thought, “How do they look so effortlessly in love?”—you’re not alone.

The truth is: those “natural” moments aren’t about posing perfectly. They’re about trust, timing, and the right approach behind the lens.

As a Chattanooga and Nashville wedding photographer and videographer, my goal is simple: to make you feel comfortable enough to be yourself. That’s where the magic happens.

1. I Get to Know You First

Candid photos start with connection. Whether it’s during your engagement session or a FaceTime call, I want to understand:

  • Your story

  • Your personalities

  • What moments matter most to you

When you trust me, you relax. When you relax, you laugh, lean into each other, and forget the camera is even there.

2. I Blend In, Not Take Over

During your wedding day, I take a documentary approach. That means:

  • I observe more than I direct

  • I anticipate moments before they happen

  • I’m always looking for laughter, emotion, and movement

Whether it’s your dad tearing up during the ceremony or your grandma breaking it down on the dance floor—those in-between moments are what tell the real story.

3. I Give Just Enough Direction

Candid doesn’t mean chaos. I’ll guide you when needed with prompts that feel natural—like:

  • “Whisper something funny in their ear.”

  • “Walk toward me like you're heading to brunch.”

  • “Hold hands and just talk to each other.”

These subtle cues spark real reactions instead of stiff poses.

4. I Stay Out of the Way (But I’m Everywhere)

I work quietly and intentionally. My gear is minimal and mobile, so I can move fast, stay discreet, and always be in the right spot when the good stuff happens—like:

  • A shared glance before walking down the aisle

  • That post-ceremony exhale of we did it

  • Guests cracking up at reception speeches

5. I Know When to Step In

Sometimes, a little direction keeps things smooth and stress-free—especially during:

  • Family formals

  • Portraits with your wedding party

  • Couples portraits (don’t worry, I make these fun and relaxed too!)

  • Busting moves on the dance floor

Once the structure is in place, the rest of the day flows naturally.

Your Wedding Day Shouldn’t Feel Like a Photoshoot

Your gallery should feel alive, not staged.

By blending storytelling with an artistic eye and calming presence, I create photos and films that reflect your real connection—not just how it looked, but how it felt.
